Finally got back my first batik scarf! It seems like I’ll be coming back from Italy with some fun and colorful bandanas. ❤️💛💚💙 I miss my acrylics more than I would have ever thought, but I am loving this new process right now. Message me if you’re interested in a scarf or some good festival clothing or something!
All of these are real pictures taken in Russian salt mines. The technicolor material that creates the groovy and vibrant patterns is called Carnallite. To read a (slightly) longer description, go to http://bit.ly/OgFuKk.
Spending this evening in Florence relaxing with my sketchbook and listening to this. Absolutely incredible to hear such a good album played so differently and live in concert. Above and Beyond are great to sit and draw to, every song moves so nicely into the next.
I finished my first hand painted scarf in batik! This picture was taken when the wax is still on, but it’ll look about the same when it comes off, just with a few more stark whites. It’s a silk scarf 2.5 x 2.5 feet hand painted with fabric dyes and made by my own design. Really happy with the way this one turned out and can’t wait to find a way to wear it!
Feeling open and wide-eyed today, ready and eager for whatever opportunities come at me next. You could call it a mood self-portrait of the day - hopefully it appears as good of a mood as it is. Gel pend and felt tip marker on paper, done in 1.5 hours during my Art Theory and Criticism class.
Now that I’m getting more settled in Florence, I feel like I finally have time to sit and draw again. Or maybe I’m just finding more time in all the art history classes that I am taking… Either way, I should be posting pages from my sketchbook more frequently (hopefully several times a week) up here as I go through it!
Switching it up a little while in Italy and taking batik as my studio course. Here’s progress on my first scarf! #annacharneyart #batik #design #illustration #art
Doing some sketching to bring in the new year.
A beautiful handcrafted and individually beaded Huichol sun from Mexico. Just part of my great attraction to brightly decorated things.
Last piece for Drawing From The Imagination class. Ink, gel pen and acrylic on paper, 12” x 18”. I have a few shapes I still want to color an details I would like to re-do. Questioning how much white space I can leave an how busy I can make it (suggestions?).
Hours in the studio pay off well. I’m complete with more than enough prints for critique tomorrow and holiday cards for all the friends and family. These are two different etching images (6”x6” each) and one screenprint (8”x8”) image. #annacharneyart #printmaking #design #art #symmetry #mandala
Here’s a piece that I did earlier in my Spiritual In Art drawing and painting class. Head Swarm, Ink, Marker, Gel Pen, Highlighter and Acrylic on Artist’s Board, 10”30”.
Entirely hand done and original design by me, without the use of computer mapping or editing. I’m fascinated with the human attraction to and attempt to perfect symmetry.
Entirely hand done symmetrical design. 20” x 15”, Marker, Gel Pen, Acrylic and Beads on Illustration Board.
💛💜💚💙 doing some color studies before moving on to larger paintings for finals. Acrylic on colored paper. 8.5 x 11”. #annacharneyart #art #painting #drawing #design
Exploring some new paints and patterns in my drawing for the imagination class this week. Ballpoint pen, ink and acrylic paint on colored paper. 8.5” x 11”. #annacharneyart #art #drawing #painting #design #doodle #nofilter
